Dozens of Republican lawmakers in the United States asked Biden to take a cognitive test or give up seeking re-election.

According to a report by Fox News on May 12, Ronny Jackson, a Republican congressman and former White House doctor, led 61 Republicans to send a letter asking US President Biden to take a cognitive test, otherwise he would withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.

Jackson and Republicans wrote in this letter that they are worried about Biden’s "current cognitive state and ability to be re-elected" in view of his announcement to run for re-election in 2024.

They believe that regardless of gender, age or political party, all presidents should record and demonstrate good mental abilities.

"Although you (Biden) received two physical examinations during your presidency, one on November 19, 2021 and the other on February 16, 2023, there is no indication that you have conducted any cognitive assessment, or even if you have, you have concealed such results from the public," they wrote.

Republicans wrote that after Biden’s physical examination in February, White House doctor Kevin O ‘Connor "claimed that Biden was a ‘ A healthy and energetic 80-year-old man can successfully perform the duties of the president. " "However, this is a statement based on physical examination, which excludes the assessment of your cognitive ability, which is our concern and that of the American public," they wrote.

Republicans also say that in the past two years, it has become more and more common for Biden to drag his feet in public, stumble while walking, slur his words, forget his name and suddenly get confused.

Republicans wrote that American citizens "should have absolute confidence in their president and know that he or she can perform his or her duties."

"Therefore, we call on you to either give up running for re-election or accept a clinically proven cognitive screening assessment and make these results public," the Republican wrote. "Successfully completing such an assessment will reassure the American public and prove that you are capable of fulfilling the duties of the President of the United States."
